How it all began…
Courtney and Matt’s story is a quintessential tale of modern love - made possible by dating apps, social media, and Southwest Airlines.
So, how did it all begin? The time was May 2022 and the place was Scottsdale, Arizona, where Matt lived at the time. Courtney was in town for one of her best friends’ Bachelorette parties, and the two serendipitously matched on Hinge. After some back-and-forth messaging, Court and Matt planned to meet up on Saturday night as both groups of friends were heading to The Vortex in Old Town (talk about finding love in a hopeless place). Well, plans went awry, and they did not meet in person that night. Clearly fate had a plot of its own to play out.
Following their failed meet-cute, Courtney went back to LA and the two went on with normal life. Over the course of the next year though - June 2022 thru May 2023 - Matt would reach out every now and then via Instagram (aka: “slide into Courtney’s DM’s”). And on May 7, 2023, he sent the message that fully caught Court’s attention. In response to a photo she posted of her adorable nephew Will on his birthday, he sent the 6 words she had been waiting for a man to say to her her whole life: “Damn, you’d be a hot mom”.
The combination of those 6 words and the fact that Courtney would be back in Scottsdale two weeks later for her mom Ginny’s birthday was the recipe for success. One weekend in Scottsdale resulted in 3 marathon dates for the pair and Matt buying a flight to LA to see Court shortly thereafter. And the rest is history.
Matt and Courtney fell for each other quickly, albeit the long distance nature of their relationship. Spending long weekends together in each other’s respective cities was like a mini vacation each time. They really got to know one another (as well as their family and friends), explore each other’s favorite spots (Hillstone martinis, Elephante meals, and late nights at Chauncey Social on repeat), learn each other’s hobbies (namely their shared love of college football) and quirks, and simply laugh together. Enjoying 2-3 hour nightly facetimes Monday-Thursday got them through the weekdays, and ultimately deepened their relationship on a different level.
Their “long distance stint” finally ended on July 1st, 2024 when Courtney and Matt moved into their new home in Fort Worth, Texas, the start to an exciting adventure for the pair. And just 5 days after moving in, on July 6th, 2024, Matt proposed on the rooftop of the Sinclair hotel with both the Sands and Sartorius families in attendance. It was a complete surprise to Courtney (her face in the photos said it all), and the best day ever.
We know the day that will top our engagement will be our wedding day, July 19, 2025. The day that will kickstart our lives together, as one, under God.
We could not be more excited to celebrate our marriage with all of our family and friends; the people who have shaped us, the people who move us, and the people who continue to love us. We love you all unconditionally and are so blessed to have you in our lives!
